On Sunday December 16 Eve 6 made the final stop on their self titled 20th anniversary tour at The Gramercy Theatre in New York City. A heartfelt nostalgic end to a tour celebrating the bands debut self entitled album. For a night, young and old fans were brought back to the first time they heard Max Collins opening Lyric “I would swallow my pride I would choke on the rinds but the lack there of would leave me empty inside.”
Eve 6 which includes Vocalist/Bassist Max Collins, guitarist Jon Siebels, and newly added drummer Ben Hilzinger. They have been named one of the defining acts of the 90’s, inspiring a generation of bands. 2018 brings this band full circle by playing their debut album in it’s entirety. Fans reveled in the nostalgia of hits Inside out, and leech. I really enjoyed being brought back to my youth with the song, Open Road Song. Hearing it played live really showed the connection that these life long friends have. Max showed his gratitude by telling many stories through out the night about how they wrote many of these songs in high school, and how amazing it was to be playing them for the fans 20 years later.
There are various genres woven into Eve 6’s music, but their catchy and smart lyrics were what had this New York City crowd singing every word. It’s amazing that this band has not released any new music since 2012, but are still about to give life to the catalog they have. Looking forward to what 2019 brings these guys….fingers crossed for a new album.
