Inglorious – Norwich Waterfront 31st Jan 2019

Inglorious rolled into Norwich, supported by Blind River and City of Thieves as part of their ten date UK tour promoting their third, album ‘Ride to Nowhere’.

Blind River took to the stage ten minutes after the doors opened, they weren’t hanging around here. A five piece rock band they opened the evening with half a dozen songs to get the crowd warmed up. Disappointingly their entire set was semi-acoustic rather than the usual full on hard rock for what they are known.  All the same they did put on a great performance and got the evening off to a good start.

Next up were City of Thieves, a step up from the previous band. This three piece heavy rock band from London released their first album Beast Reality at the end of 2018.  They performed a great electric rock set with fantastic songs and a performance to match. The set was all too short leaving the audience wanting more.  This is one band to watch in 2019.

Inglorious took to the stage at 9:30. Once described as the future of British Rock, this was always going to be an interesting set as three of the original band members left just after completing the album. It was going to be a baptism of fire for the new members of the band playing tracks from the new and previous albums.

The band kicked off with Where are you now? from the first album. They seemed a little hesitant to start with but by the second song Taking the Blame they had settled down and sounded like a well polished act.

Nathan has a fantastic stage presence with a voice to match.  I have to say that I was equally impressed by new guitarist Danny Dela Cruz who is only nineteen but was superb.  He is a star of the future.

The highlight of the evening was an acoustic version of Glory Days, with the drummer Phil playing a 12 string guitar. It was brilliant to watch, and it blew the audience away

Overall it was a brilliant evening, over all too soon.

It will be interesting to see how the band develop over the coming months.
