Conor Maynard – O2 Institute, Birmingham

Conor Maynard is a British singer songwriter and Youtuber born in Brighton. He rose to fame in 2012 after his debut album Contrast was released in the July. He has supported bands such as The Vamps across the UK in his early career but has now branched off onto his own live shows.

Conor had two support acts, Casey Lowry and ANTH but due to difficulties with doors and security many audience members missed their performances. Cheering could be heard from well outside the venue whilst both acts performed.

Conor opened the show with Turn Around which was a huge hit with the crowd and really got things going from the start! All the crowd were extremely interactive from the start and created an incredible atmosphere. He sang multiple songs off his debut album Contrast whilst also incorporating multiple covers and remixes. ‘That Way’ by the Backstreet Boys and ‘Someone You Loved’ by Lewis Capaldi were all welcomed well by the crowd and even got the older members of the crowd singing! The end of his set welcomed three sing offs between Conor and ANTH, this was a combination of Dusk Til Dawn, Shape of You and Despacito. All members of the crowd absolutely loved this performance as it was very much like a live version of Conor’s YouTube videos.

Conor Maynard was an incredibly enthusiastic artists who brought his wit and humour to the stage alongside his musical talent which created an incredible atmosphere for all. Conor went on to two more tour dates in London and Dublin afterwards and has now continued on to a US tour!
